Hello Everyone! Happy Tuesday! I’m back again today as part of my engagement blog series to help create the best possible experience with me, your photographer! Your love story is unique and your engagement photos with me should reflect that. If you want your pictures to really showcase your love story, I have some ideas to help you help me plan the perfect engagement session. Consider the following questions:
1. Where did you first meet?
If you want to add some sentimental value to your session, tell me about how you first met. Was it at a place nearby? Is there a place nearby that reminds you of the original place? What was your first date like? Where did you go and what did you do? My husband I’s first date was a hike up to a waterfall followed by dinner at a local establishment near the hiking trail, which is the approximate area that we later had our engagement photos. If it was at a local place, we can stop by during your session and recreate the scene.
2. What do you like to do together?
What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing together? This will help us to create memorable photos for you. Do you love riding your bikes together or racing model airplanes? Do you go to the park and push each other on the swings or playing laser tag together? Tell me about your hobbies, and I would love to incorporate more YOU into your session!
3. Where/how did he propose?
I would love to recreate this moment for you during your session. This is the moment you decided to spend the rest of your lives together. This is important, especially if we were not able to capture this moment as it was actually happening. We want you to be able to share your proposal story with photos to go along with it!
4. What are your common interests?
By informing us of your interests, we can add a more personal touch to your photos. Are you both fans of the same sports team? Consider bringing your favorite fan gear to use in a few shots. Are you really into comic books or video games? Do you work in the same profession? Maybe you both absolutely love Chuck Taylors, or ice cream, or dogs; let’s incorporate it into your shoot!
5. Do you have any pets together?
If so, they make a perfect addition to your session. Whether a dog, cat, bunny or something more exotic, we welcome your pets in your engagement session.
6. Do you have ‘a spot’?
You know that place where you always wind up going on date night? Where was your first kiss? What is your favorite hang out spot? Tell us your favorite go-to locations and we can check them out to see if they would be good spots for a photo shoot.
I hope these help! My goal is to make your session fun for everyone involved, because having your portraits done shouldn’t feel like a chore! If you haven’t already, read my previous post in the series here! And stay tuned for my next installment. ;)
